Garbage cart set-out and set-back service

If a permanent physical disability means no one in your home can move your carts, collection crews can move them for you.

Crews will take your carts from where you keep them to the curb, and bring them back after collection. Approval lasts one year, and you renew it each year.

Proof of disability

For a new application, a physician confirms that a medical condition stops you from moving the carts. You don’t need to tell us the condition. Your physician may charge a fee.

Terms

  • Collection crews may come onto your property to move the carts to the curb and back.
  • No one in your home is able to move the carts.
  • Carts must be easy to reach, not inside a closed building or a gated area.
  • Service ends if someone able to move the carts joins your household. Tell the City if you no longer need the service or if you move.
  • The City isn’t responsible for damage to private property caused by providing this service.

How we use your information

The City of Cranbrook collects the personal information on this form under the authority of section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Bylaw No. 3744, 2012, because it relates directly to and is necessary for this City program. It will be used only to decide whether you’re eligible for set-out and set-back service and to provide it, and will be shared only as the Act allows.
