Emergency alerts

Get evacuation alerts and orders by text, phone call, app or email. It's free.

The Regional Evacuation Notification System sends evacuation alerts and orders for wildfires, floods, hazardous materials spills and other emergencies in the East Kootenay. It’s run by the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) using Voyent Alert!, and it’s used only for evacuation alerts and orders.

It’s free and anonymous. Anyone who lives in or owns property in the East Kootenay can sign up, including Cranbrook and other municipalities, rural areas, First Nations communities and second-home owners.

Set your locations

Alerts go to the locations you add, so the location of your pin matters.

  1. Sign in to Voyent Alert! and select Add Locations in the upper right.
  2. Move the map to your area, then drag your pin, or click and hold where you want a new pin.

Tips

  • Use your street address, not your postal code.
  • Check that your pin is on the right property. This is the most important step.
  • If you use the app, make sure your phone hasn’t offloaded it.
  • Signed up a while ago? Sign in and check your pin is still in the right place.

Need help signing up? Contact the RDEK Emergency Information team, or follow the RDEK on Facebook for updates during an emergency.
