Variances

Ask to vary a zoning rule, such as a setback or height, for your property.

Two ways to ask

Development variance permit

Council decides. Nearby owners and tenants are notified before Council considers the request. Talk to planning staff before you apply.

Board of Variance

An independent board decides minor variances where following the bylaw exactly would cause hardship. See upcoming Board of Variance meetings.
