Report an animal problem

Bylaw officers handle dogs at large, barking and other noise, aggressive dogs and nuisance cats. Officers work 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

  • Animal complaints: 250-489-9598 (leave a message any time)
  • Other bylaw concerns: 311

If your dog is impounded

Impounded animals are taken to the East Kootenay SPCA, 250-426-6751. Pay the impound fee at City Hall on weekdays, or at Western Financial Place on weekends from 1 pm to 4 pm. Animals not claimed within 5 days go into the SPCA’s care. The City doesn’t adopt out animals, but supports the SPCA’s adoption program.

Spaying or neutering lowers licence and impound fees and helps prevent unwanted litters.
