Rain barrel and sprinkler timer rebate

Get back 40% of the cost of a rain barrel or programmable sprinkler timer, up to $50.

Funding is limited and rebates are first come, first served. One rebate per household.

Who can apply

  • Owners of an existing home in Cranbrook with a valid occupancy permit
  • Property taxes are up to date
  • The home is connected to City water
  • Your receipt is dated January 1, 2025 or later

If you’ve had a rain barrel rebate before, you can still get a timer rebate. You can’t get a second rebate for the same item.

What qualifies

Rain barrel

Collects rain from your roof for watering gardens and lawns. Rainwater is soft and good for plants, and it eases demand on our reservoirs. It isn’t treated, so don’t drink it or cook with it.

Programmable sprinkler timer

Attaches to an outdoor tap and turns your hose on and off on a schedule, so you can match the watering rules. Remove it before winter.

How to apply

  1. Fill in the application form.
  2. Include your receipt and a photo of the barrel or timer installed.
  3. Drop it off or mail it to City Hall, 40 10th Avenue South, Cranbrook, BC V1C 2M8. Keep copies, because documents aren’t returned.
